The First Visit

The First Visit

Please try to arrive 10-15 minutes early for your first appointment in order to fill out necessary history forms.  If you have any X-rays, MRI or other diagnostic test results that may be useful in determining your treatment please provide this office with that information.  It is important for us to know your medical history in order for Dr. Wright to correctly diagnose your condition.

Conditions that are especially important for your chiropractor to be aware of are:

  • Past history of aneurysm or stroke
  • Heart conditions including pacemaker or past surgeries
  • Bone fractures, disc injuries, or muscle sprains
  • Osteoporosis or other bone disorders
  • Past or current history of cancer

A physical exam will be done after discussing your health concerns.  This exam involves checking your vital signs, reflexes, and blood pressure.

Questions that might be asked may include the following:
  • When and how did your pain start?
  • Where is the pain centered?
  • Is there anything that you do that worsens or improves the pain?

Patients are usually provided with their first treatment after the physical exam. To enhance the results of the adjustment, therapies such as ultrasound or electro-muscle stimulation may be included. Also, patients may be provided with instructions regarding the use of ice or heat therapy and/or individualized home exercise programs.

Within a day or two after an adjustment, some patients experience stiffness and/or achiness such as one may have after beginning a new exercise program.
